President Donald Trump refused Wednesday to commit to a peaceful transition of power if he loses the 2020 election to Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

The president had been asked by a reporter if he would commit to a peaceful transfer of power, “win, lose or draw.”

When the reporter noted that “people are rioting,” Trump replied: “Get rid of the ballots, and you’ll have a very – you’ll have a very peaceful – there won’t be a transfer, frankly, there’ll be a continuation.”

“The ballots are out of control,” Trump said, adding, “The Democrats know it better than anybody else.”

Instead of headlines like this: The Trump campaign is reportedly 'discussing contingency plans to bypass election results' Describe it for what it really is: "trump campaign is reportedly discussing a coup"

That what this is really talking about. The best way to forestall it, it to use it's real name. Ask these republican states if they would support a trump coup. Ask them if they would commit treason against the United States in the name of trump. Don't minimize it by lumping it into general election shenanigans or gaming the system. To minimize it is to give it power, to call it by it's true name is to weaken it.
