The Simpsons Take On Fox News And Glenn Beck

So glad I saw this. Halftime of the GoDaddy Bowl (for left coasters anyway) came at just the right time.

The premise of the episode is that Homer has become a viral internet video sensation after Bart uploads footage of him having an Alec Baldwin-esque airplane meltdown.

Cable news executives are so endeared by Homer’s folksiness — saying he is the “ill-informed gas bag that networks cannot get enough of” — that they decide to give him his own show, Gut Check!

In a spot-on, cheeky parody of Beck, Simpson ostentatiously sobs crocodile tears as he laments a high school in Nebraska replacing football with soccer as a team sport.

The Simpsons‘ writers have outdone themselves tonight, with this no-holds-barred parody of the over-the-top bloviating shenanigans of some cable news personalities.

Watch the best four minutes of the episode at the link:

It was a real return to form for them. It also made me love Lisa even more when she said told Homer not to endorse Ted Nugent because he's a rightwing nutjob who loves everything she hates. Lisa for president!

besides the shots at Fox News was how packed it was in the sheer number of jokes and gags. No filler in this one.

An absolute Simpsons fanatic ( he just won't STFU about it ) and after comfortably retiring from his union job, suddenly went to the right, and really likes the Glen Beck show. The cognitive dissonance will rip his innards to pieces.

and tells his audience, ”My fellow Americans, I am full of crap.”

I liked the gravy boat = tea party metaphor.
