WTAE in Pittsburgh just had Trump +3

In Western PA outside Pittsburgh

This is amazing considering Trump won this area by 23 in 2016.

1. Is that the "Pennsyltucky" area?

If Trump's votes are down there, then the cities' votes will overwhelm, I hope.

17. Yes. Very much so.

The people there have been hit hard by the decline in industrial America, their GrandMoms and GrandDads left high school and got job in factories located in nearby cities, and lived an idyllic middleclass lifestyle, complete with vacation travel and a pension when they retired. The reality today is vastly different and people in that region listen to Fox News and blame the wrong people for their troubles.

2. Yes, interesting.

I wonder where Joe and Jill will visit, after debate; Western PA said to be on their 'whistle-stop.'

13. They are starting in Ohio

after the debate.

https://www.timesonline.com/story/news/2020/09/29/biden-taking-train-trip-across-western-pa-after-debate-trump/3574166001/

From Cleveland, Biden and his wife Jill will head to Alliance, Ohio, before entering the Keystone State and making a stop in Pittsburgh.

Other train station stops include Greensburg and Latrobe with an event in New Alexandria, Westmoreland County, sandwiched between and a drive-in event in Johnstown Wednesday night.

No specific locations have been released by the campaign.

4. Just from a "yard sign" survey........ (from western PA)

I'm seeing a lot more Biden signs than I did Hillary signs. The same Trumpsters have their signs, flags, and American flags surrounding them (ironic, isn't it - flags to honor the one who put us at risk!).

Cliff notes:
More Biden signs
Not quite as many for Bunkerboy

GET OUT THE VOTE!!!!!

16. I took a ride today throughout Westmoreland and I seen..

A ton more Biden signs.. In fact in some areas, Biden signs out number Trump signs by alot.

Pretty awesome.

8. It's Biden +30 on the Philly Main Line

If Trump's at only +3 in ex-urb Pittsburgh, it's going to be a wipe-out for Biden in PA. Those Biden +9, +10 in PA starting to make sense.

9. I read somewhere last night that Biden has made significant gains in York/Lancaster/Harrisburg

And that those gains, combined with his strength in Philly and Pittsburgh pretty much signaled PA was pretty likely safe D.

11. Also in western PA

Not a surprising result. Outside of Allegheny county, the population is fairly homogeneous: older, white, blue collar.

Ex-gov Tom Ridge just came out and endorsed Biden, so that might carry some weight up around Erie especially. Ridge was a pretty popular R governor during his tenure.

Trump has never stopped running a lot of ads here, too, despite his campaign's financial circumstances. His surrogates have been running anti-Biden ads as well. He's visited here at least twice in the past few weeks. He's really making a push. Apparently it's not working that well. All that said, Biden's campaign has aired far more ads on local media, both radio and TV.

I have also noticed a fair number of Biden/Harris yard signs as opposed to few Clinton signs in 2016.

19. The Ridge Endorsement is HUGE here in Western PA

He is 'family' to a lot of folks here in the Western PA Region.

And loyalty to family here means something.

This is going to resonate and I would not be surprised to see the Killer Clowns support drop at least a percent or two because of it.

18. I find that hard to believe

We visited friends in Western PA over Labor Day weekend and the Trump:Biden sign ratio I saw was probably 15:1, sadly. Granted, we didn't go into Pittsburgh proper. I'm sure it's a different story there.

20. In comparison to 2016 there is a huge shrinkage of Don The Con signs out there.

Still a lot, but nothing like 4 years ago.
