A missed opportunity regarding Trump rallies during the debates

President Donald J. Trump: (08:48)
We’ve had no negative effect.

Vice President Joe Biden: (08:49)
No negative effect. Come on.

President Donald J. Trump: (08:51)
We’ve had no negative effect, and we’ve had 35, 40,000 people at these rallies.

A better response by Biden:

No negative effect? You got your friend Herman Cain killed at a rally. He followed your irresponsible leadership and died a preventable, pointless death. Did you forget? Did your great memory fail you tonight?

Joe is fine just the way he is.

And I was going to say something similar to your response, but you said it better than I ever could have. And every word is true.

how it would’ve played out. Trump might have said, “how can you say that? His family is still grieving blah blah”

...but it wouldn't hurt to have a few prefabricated missiles loaded up going in to the next one.

The only one I saw was the suckers and losers rant. It seemed rehearsed and kind of sputtered.

Trump is SO vulnerable in so many areas. He needs to take more damage next time.

that the Obama administration had put into place. I could be wrong here but I kind of think something like that might have come in handy when, oh, I don't know, a fucking GLOBAL pandemic hit.

The first one was when Trump criticized him for leaving 128 unfilled Federal judgeships before leaving office. Joe should have told him that those jobs were left vacant because McConnell BLOCKED all their judicial nominees.

The second one was when Trump gave the "stand back and stand by" line. Joe should have jumped in with, "Stand by for WHAT?"

Other than that, I thought Joe did an admirable job in horrific circumstances. He had a few memorable lines and got a few zingers in (when he was able to get a word in edgewise), and clearly acted more Presidential. And the polls reflect that he overwhelmingly won the debate.

Trump went into the debate needing to make up ground, needing to win over undecideds, and to peel away some of Joe's voters. That little display did NONE of that, and likely drove almost all the remaining undecideds the other way.
