(3,063 posts)It lists the requirements by state.
Many of them require you to be a registered voter in that district or county.
So YES question the hell out of them before they start on you, which is a violation they are to report you to the precinct head, they are not to engage you in most states.

R.C. §3505.21
Must be a registered voter in the precinct; cant be a candidate; can be appointed by a political party or a group of five or more candidates; one person per precinct; cant be a uniformed peace officer, state patrolman, member of an organized militia or any other person in uniform; cant be carrying a firearm or deadly weapon.
AND
Election observers who monitor polling places and election counts will be required to wear face coverings in Ohio, and those who refuse could be removed from polling places.
Observers are allowed to move freely around assigned polling locations, but they are barred from interfering with or disrupting the election or trying to influence voters. They can leave the polling location to call the board of elections to raise grievances, but they cannot directly advocate for voters at the polling location, according to the states election manual.
Local elections officials already had the power to remove observers who dont follow the rules, but LaRoses directive adds wearing a mask to the requirements for poll watchers.

If they harass you notify the election judge. They have the power to make arrests.

(15,544 posts)Not by anyone. Presiding judge can use one to contact the elections admins. But other than that you are not allowed to use it inside the polling site.
I would notify the election judge if you see something inside the polling site. They would and should be the person to address this, they also have the power to make arrests.

(15,544 posts)If you see someone with a weapon inside the polling site inform the presiding election judge.
Also in Texas poll watchers have to take a training course and they cannot leave the polling site until after being there for 5 hours.
