Standing Down Republican Bullies and Thugs

from Leo W. Gerard at HuffPo: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/leo-w-gerard/recess-appointments-backl_b_1192739.html

In America, when gangs of bullies torment school children, pushing them around and extorting their lunch money, parents know only one response effectively counters the abuse: confrontation. Running, whining, negotiating -- none of that works.

For the past year, since Republicans took the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, they've behaved like young thugs, extorting Democrats to get what they wanted. Employing the blackmail techniques of schoolyard gangs, House Republicans repeatedly threatened to hurt the American people and the American government if Democrats didn't submit.

Then President Obama confronted them. In recent weeks, he finally internalized and implemented the advice of American parents on dealing with bullies. He stood his ground. He called the GOP bluff on the payroll tax. And they backed down. He recess appointed four officials, defying GOP attempts to thwart service to American workers and borrowers.

Apparently, it's a new day in Washington, one in which Democrats, who control the presidency and the majority in the U.S. Senate, are fed up and not going to take GOP extortion anymore . . .

that they have very thin skins. They can dish it out but they can't take it. We need to keep dishing it out.

. . .the small degree that they've actually been directly confronted on their obvious lies. We see column after column calling them out for their distortions and untruths, but it's when they're actually made to face those questions directly that they fold or go ballistic.

We do need more direct confrontation of these republicans, like the citizen did in demanding from the crowd that Gingrich 'stop using blacks as a punching bag'.

Republicans are still going to hold the American people hostage in their political battles and Obama and the Democrats will still give in rather than have the country we all care about hurt by those that don't truly give a shit..Our ONLY hope is for the American people to come out of their coma and vote those anti-American thugs out of office..

I think this portends a new approach by the administration and congressional Democrats. Rep. Pelosi encouraged the President yesterday in his campaign against the do-nothing Congress that she's clearly fighting to animate for the good. So, we'll see.

from boehner. He controls CSPAN (or whomever is Speaker of the House)
Twice now he has cut the CSPAN camera and mic so we, the people cannot observe what really going on, which--for boehners information hides nothing. It just makes him and his RWNJ caucus look even Worse than they did before.
