Biden now leads Trump by 27 points among seniors (62% to 35%) -- a group Trump won by 7 points in 201

By the numbers: Biden has the support of 53% of registered voters in a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, while 39% support Trump. Meanwhile, a Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Biden with a 51%-41% lead over Trump — the widest gap that survey has found in a month.

Between the lines: The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll was taken after the first presidential debate, but before Trump revealed that he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

49% of voters in that poll thought Biden did a better job in the debate, while 24% said the same for Trump.
Key stat: Biden now leads Trump by 27 points among seniors (62% to 35%) — a group Trump won by 7 points in 2016.
67% of people want Trump and Biden to stop in-person campaign rallies, and 59% think the presidential debates should be postponed until Trump recovers from the coronavirus, according to the Reuters/Ipsos poll.

I used to think that if we were ever to find out that he paid for abortions, that that would sink him. Now I have serious doubts that even that would work.

Very few polls out that are 100% post debate and even less than are 100% post debate and Trump's diagnosis.

Still the most recent polls show a surge for Joe. He is up 10 in one and up 14 in another.

Trump is never going to 0. Hoover destroyed the economy and bankrupted most Americans. They lost literally everything and 40% still supported him. Hoover didn't even have FauxNews, facebook, and qanon.

You can't say sacrifice seniors for the economy and expect seniors' support. You cannot neglect seniors' nursing homes and expect support from seniors.
Fuck all reckless ReTHUGs! Take them all down. ByeDon!

I keep seeing all these polls where Biden is doing waaaay better with various groups than Hillary. In this case it's seniors. In other polls he's doing better with people in the suburbs. Better than Hillary with people who don't have a college degree. Better than Hillary did overall with white men. Etc, etc, etc.

And yet the margins in the state and national polls stay pretty much the same. I mean if Trump won seniors by 7 points and Biden is now up by 27 points with them then that is a 34 point swing with a huge group of people that are also one of the most reliable groups to actually show up and vote. A swing of that magnitude with just that one group should hand Biden Ohio and Florida in a cake walk. And yet the overall margins in those states remain very close.

four years ago are not around to vote this year. Meanwhile, even younger seniors have reached that age category and are all too aware of the fragility of Medicare and Social Security.

added on edit: Only about a quarter of voters are over age 65. So even if 100% of them voted for the same person, it would have a somewhat smaller effect on the total outcome.

That poll was taken on the two nights after the disaster of a debate, and before Trump got airlifted to Walter Reed. Also, as far as seniors go, most of them (me included) will not answer a phone call from someone unknown, to avoid scammers selling crap. And for those seniors polled by Internet survey, I would expect Democratically leaning seniors to be more apt to use polling websites.
