My ballot has been received after I mailed it in, BUT

So I checked up on my ballot and was delighted to see that my ballot was received and accepted after it was scanned a couple days ago by the post office to say it was on it's way to the elections office. I mailed my ballot at the same time as my wife and dropped it into the same post office box. I went ahead and checked on hers as well, to find that not only has it not been received, but it still hasn't been scanned by the post office as being on its way to the elections office. What gives?
