Andrew Sullivan on the Mother Jones video showing Romney saying Bain "harvests" companies

http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2012/09/romney-at-bain-we-harvest-companies.html

This is not the "47 percent" bombshell. It just shows what Bain Capital was about: rewarding its shareholders by "harvesting" companies. That word is clinical. And look: there's nothing evil or wrong about Bain. It did what it does, it has had some successes and failures, and it's not a crime to make money this way. But it isn't business, as Romney concedes, so much as finance. And those who lost their jobs as a result will not be thrilled to find out that they were harvested for Romney's mega-rich Bain peeps.

I wonder if Andrew would feel it was evil or wrong if his job and his pension were "harvested" by Bain. One man's "harvest" is another mans rip off.

Finding a way to stop predators like Bain and Rmoney should be high on the agenda.

They bought companies, loaded them up with debt, then put thousands of people out of work, devastated communities, stuffed the borrowed money into their pockets, and then walked away, leaving everyone else to pick up the remains.

That's evil.

Andrew Sullivan was -- and is -- a douchebag.

. . . the practice of Romney and Bain, or, the tax breaks he and his ilk are granted under the "carried interest" loophole for putting these folks on the pavement.

If he weren't running for president, he'd be just another corporate vulture. But he's running for president. I think it's relevant to discuss whether a potential President of the United States has any empathy for the vast majority of the people he'd be governing or any understanding of what their lives are like.
