.....wait to vote for Joe. On my way out the door to drop it off at the drop box at the library. I don't feel silly at all about wanting to do this immediately because I've been waiting for four years for this moment.

(1,035 posts)My husband says we can't drop off our ballots until October 24th. The drop-off spot is about a mile from the house and in the red zone (Yup. We are back to that now) so I may need to come up with Plan B.

(4,544 posts)Im in NY-21 Northern New York. I have decided to vote early in-person since we are very rural and I am thinking the line shouldnt be that long. As long as things dont change COVID wise, our rates around here are under 1%.
They only offer early in-person at the main county Board of Elections office at least in my area. So, its a 35 minute drive, but I want my vote done and dusted in real time. Pretty sure it is the same day you said you can drop off your ballot.
Mask up, lather (hand gel) up, and lets get this done!!

(31,261 posts)Dont drop it late in the day or at night to sit over night, 8am-12 noon would be the best time to drop it. Here in Florida, we can walk our completed ballots into the registrars office.

(5,624 posts)Yes.
Each county opens a voting center prior to each primary, special election, and general election . Each voting center is open during business hours during the voting period, which begins eighteen days before, and ends at 8:00 p.m. on the day of, the primary, special election, or general election. You can locate your nearest voting center by logging into VoteWA.gov or contacting your county's elections department.

King County has 72 of them scattered around, including at libraries and shopping malls.

I was physically shaking when I was filling in my ballot.
It really hit me what's at stake.

(3,689 posts)No big deal, Oregon has been successfully conducting 100% mail-in elections for a couple of decades.
My ballot was mailed September 18 and I received it in Uruguay today, October 10; three weeks to arrive.
My completed 100% Democratic ballot will be submitted via email and Oregon has a tracking system for voters to confirm receipt of the ballot.

(11,637 posts)And Id made arrangements to vote via internet since I was moving around and didnt have an address. Went to local election office (Eugene, Oregon) before I left US. No problemo. While I was in the office, another clerk was trying to make sure that a homeless man would be able to vote. Thats the way it should be.

(19,187 posts)I love the Post Office, but I wanted to make sure the board of elections had it in their grubby little hands with no dicking around.
Now, waiting 3+ weeks is going to be excruciating, but we have to send that orange asshole a message, and that message is, "YOU'RE THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER! GET THE HELL OUT OF OUR HOUSE AND OUR GOVERNMENT, AND TAKE YOUR WORTHLESS KIDS WITH YOU. ENJOY PRISON, ASSHOLE!"

Needed an appointment to go in. Security at the door. Had to go back to security when done, get in line, and wait. Social distancing/only one at a time.
Voted and turned it in at the county auditor's office. No worries about the post office "losing" my ballot!

(6,699 posts)So I am hoping our ballots arrive soon so that my sister can send them down to us here, we can fill them out and complete them, and mail them back immediately. It's going to take some extra time for them to be mailed down here.... about a week ( not with the regular mail in Mexico), and probably another week to mail them back.
I was fretting that they wouldn't arrived at our permanent address in Washington state until the 16th.... so this is good news. Every day earlier makes a big difference for us.🤠

(16 posts)Good afternoon DU,
First time here , my name is Lounah , I choose Alice Garoute as a username because she's our Susan B Anthony , a Haitian Suffragist , and advocate for women's right .
I have been browsing since 2003 , I laughed , cried with you , but was affraid to post anything , because I was not a US citizen yet . Im Afro Carribean from Haiti and waited patiently 30 years to become a US Citizen, this year on September 14th , same week The Notorious RGB passed . I register the same day , and my first vote will be against Orange Cheeto (I never say his name ) . I came in this country as an undocumented teenager , I know more about the US then Haiti , you can imagine all the sleepless nights thinking you might be deported , had to keep my me too story to myself , but you keep pushing and stay out of trouble .
I live in Central Florida and have been married for 17years , with two kids and a husky . My Daughter just started college , my Son a middle schooler and my precious Shadow . I worked in the medical field and yes Covid19 is not a hoax . For years I have helped my community register to vote , make sure they get to the polls for Presidential , Congress , Governor and Local Election (For God Sake Democrats, Vote in Congressional Election too = we get to pick Justices ) , this year my daughter just turn 18 , so we get to accompany my husband and vote too .
Im scare of what might happened if we don't vote early , and it's a close election . I do believe the US Constitution will stands
no matter what Orange Cheeto wanna be Dictator and his enablers think ...they expect a bloodbath , so let's vote in mass.
RussellCattle
(1,530 posts)....with your first post. Thank you so much. Welcome to DU, but really welcome to the United States, and congratulations on getting your citizenship! We are lucky to have you here. This goofy country is made all the more richer by your presence.

(5,730 posts)Special thanks to our great Colorado Secretary of State, Jena Griswold, for running such a "tight ship" of an election. She was great on national TV, as well, in many interviews.
Hubby and I have completed our ballots, and I will be putting them in one of the many drop boxes today!
Colorado has this voting-thing buttoned down, and every state should follow the example.

(2,590 posts)There's that. There's also the fact that they will require voter registration cards and photo IDs before they'll let you drop it in the frickin' box. And there's also the fact that the drop location is nearly 30 miles from my home in the City of Dallas - and I live south of LBJ and north of downtown. I'm beginning to think that I'm just as well off voting in person.

(6,794 posts)the only thing holding me up from having it in the envelope already is we have a few propositions - all important, - some not obvious - to research. Hopefully I'll get that done today, and I couldn't send it out today anyway, being Sunday.

(1,078 posts)I can attest to how good Washington State is at detecting voter fraud. I live in Washington State also. We have the ballot, a secrecy envelope and an outer envelope that has to be signed and dated by the voter. A couple years ago my wife forgot to sign her envelope, so I signed it for her and put it in the mail. A few days later, before Election Day she got a letter from the Election Board stating that the signature on her voter envelope didn't look right. She had to fill out an affidavit stating that was actually her ballot and her signature!
If they can catch that, I don't think they let much get by them!
RussellCattle
(1,530 posts)....the country after graduating and lived in the Middle East. Her absentee ballots were always being questioned because her signature had changed so much from her college days signature. On her return she went to the county office to correct her old registration. Her votes always counted but she often had to verify who she was.
