Like a speeding train . . . .

This is shaping up to be one very interesting presidential campaign season. It was predicted to be neck and neck, but Mitch Rmoney has shown the pundits to be wrong. Obama is up in every national poll, outside the margins of error.

Down ballot is equally important. Instead of picking up House seats and taking the Senate, the GOOPers are just hoping to hang on.

I can imagine the case - still far from a sure thing - where Obama takes the White House by a significant popular and electoral vote margin, and the Dems hold the Senate and take the House back. I can see Leader Reid getting rid of the filibuster and Speaker Pelosi herding the cats.

Imagine a president who has no reelection, who is in with a real mandate. Imagine the filibuster gone. Imagine a first 100 days in which the president who many saw having the potential to actually become a transformative president.

Imagine the powerful, culturally altering legislation that we could see.

Imagine it coming at us.

Imagine it

We need to all work diligently to make sure that this is a transformative election. It now looks that President Obama is going to win easily. But we should not assume that.

Register Democrats. Get them to the polls on election day. Phone bank. Knock on doors. Obama's ground game is in high gear; get connected with it now.

The down ticket races are very important, especially the House races where we can do real damage to the tea idiots; all 435 seats are in play and congressional districts are small when compared to state competitions.

Work! Work! Work! Work! Work as if our futures depend on it. Because it does.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything in the post comes true. However, that video is at best, wishful thinking. Those Acela trains are lucky to hit 100 mph for a sustained period. The technology of the European and Japanese trains is just not there. And that's not saying it's not available, it just wasn't built into them and one of the primary reasons is the weight of the cars. They are almost twice as heavy as they should be to run at any real speed. The extra weight also adds to much higher maintenance as suspension and running gear are affected negatively by it. Hope the Pres will address this in his next term and get the many proposed high speed rail projects going. It certainly wouldn't hurt the economy.

How 'bout really getting high speed rail, BTW? Obama is in favor of it. We can't afford it right now, but we're one of the few industrial countries not to have many of those rail systems? They ALL use them extensively, except for us, I think.
