We'll have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to see if the CDC total breaks six figures for the first time ever.

Today was around 79,000. Tomorrow will likely be in the low 70,000s.

It's the one most of us around here (and elsewhere) who regularly track this rely on.

They update it regularly at a fixed time each day so that you can get a reliable 24-hour tally of new cases. They also regularly update previous data as the data is updated. When there are major updates, they promptly provide an explanation of why, for example, there appears to be a signficiant jump in cases that does not reflect an actual jump in cases. The source for all their data is identified.

Prior to the worldometeres site, many of us used the Johns Hopkins site, but it started to significant errors that persisted for days, and has never updated at a fixed time each day - making it difficult to have a day-end time that can be relied on for a 24-hour new case count.

There have been a few flash-in-the-pan sites that had fleeting popularity, but none that are anywhere near as consistently reliable as worldometers.

It is supported by advertising (as is DU), but I have never had any malware issues with it - nor am I aware of anyone else who uses it who has had any.

I'm getting "not secure", and domain redirects here in two browsers for the .com.

Btw, there's a difference between "past 24 hours" and "day total."
