Why you shouldn't use FedEx or UPS to return your ballot.
The Postal Service recently warned state election officials that ballot delivery could be significantly delayed because of the record number of mail-in ballots expected during the pandemic. But America's two major private delivery companies say they're unwilling to step in and handle the flood of mail-in ballots -- and they advised voters against using their services for ballot delivery.
https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/08/17/business/fedex-ups-mail-in-ballots/index.html?__twitter_impression=true Not sure that anyone would try to send their ballot this way, but with all of the suppression efforts and time running out, thought it worth putting out there.

1. Most states wouldn't even accept a ballot if it's send back by UPS or Fedex.
You have to know the rules.

6. Mine will:
Returning your ballot by mail. It must be postmarked on or before Election Day (November 3, 2020) and received by your county within the next seven calendar days (November 10). Return your ballot by mail or package delivery service (such as FedEx or UPS). https://www.sos.state.mn.us/elections-voting/other-ways-to-vote/vote-early-by-mail/
I suppose some people might use one of those services if they are concerned about USPS and can't get to a drop-off location. |

2. Why should they help DEMS when the Rethugs are trying to kill USPS and clear away their competition?
The USPS is an honestly profitable government agency and does a great job. Of course, any model of government efficiency goes against the Reich Wing narrative, so it has to go. Until they mandated the USPS lock up huge amounts for future retirement, they had a surplus. They were doing fine without all the top down government interference. Yet my brother-in-law who works for USPS probably has some way to blame DEMS for his predicament.
I am surrounded by idiots, so I come to DU for fresh perspective. |

3. The USPS handles 10's of millions of christmas cards every year. They can handle 100M...
ballots over a four week period.

11. Not any more. Unless we can reverse this, 2020 will be the year Post Office is murdered.
Right now it is just seriously wounded.

4. Can't imagine anyone using UPS or FEDEX. Unless people have no other choice, mailing it
9 days out is a little risky. 5 days out is really risky. But it's better than not voting.

7. You shouldn't be mailing it out at this point anyway.
Just drop it off at an early voting location.

9. For an elderly person who doesn't drive and maybe can't stand in line.
That’s not an option. We need ALL votes to be cast and counted.

10. Yes we do need all votes counted.
An elderly person has options. They can assign someone to drop off their ballot for them. I know you can do that in Florida where I live, not sure about the rest of the country.
We definitely need more polling places open so that there aren't long lines and longer earlier voting too. |
