Was volunteering in Philly, PA this past weekend and one of the things I did was drive some people to the polls through Drive Your Ballot [link:https://www.driveyourballot.com/|. The first guy I took was 81 and told me he hadn't voted since 1983 but thought it was important this time. "This guy has got to go," he told me regarding his change of heart.
He waited in line for an hour and 45 minutes before he got to drop off his ballot. Never complained, even though it was 45 degrees out and he didn't have a winter jacket on. After I drove him home, he couldn't find his "I Voted" sticker and he was bummed. I took my next ride to the polls and picked up a new sticker for him and dropped it off for him at the end of the day. That guy made my weekend.
If people are willing to sacrifice like he did, maybe we can win this thing if we keep showing up and not giving in to despair...

(22,059 posts)by trump and his antics, and his threat on social security ... this still rankles in my mind, despite me paying for the social security I get for the 42 years I've worked. Anybody that threatens my social security despite me paying for it, deserves a kick in the a&&.
Thank you again, for your volunteering and helping those less fortunate...you are a gem in my book.

(33,232 posts)I'm glad he did, but I'm always curious how it gets rationalized.
haven't heard a good reason yet.

(2,338 posts)Walk up to the ballot box outside our voting location. We had waited in line for about 90 minutes when she arrived.
She appeared to be about 80 and had a prosthetic leg. She made her way through the line of voters and deposited her ballot. She then turned around and started fist pumping. Even with her mask on, she eyes told of the enormous smile that was surely on her face. Everyone in the line applauded!
I wish I could have gone up to her and hugged her but as we all know....couldnt happen. So I gave her a virtual one.
I made my day..

(32,558 posts)... can you wait in your car? Or is it necessary to park and wait in person?
I'd think the "car" line option would be so much safer, especially for older folks.
