Neil Bush Communist Photo Makes A Scene On Chinese Social Media Site Weibo

Neil Bush, younger brother of former President George W. Bush, raised some eyebrows on Monday after posting a picture showing him decked out in gear traditionally associated with members of the Chinese Communist Party.

“I’m thinking of joining the CCP. What do you think of my accessories?” read a message posted to Bush's account on Chinese social media site Weibo, alongside a Chinese translation of the caption.

The attached picture shows a smiling Bush holding a mug with a graphic of Chairman Mao Zedong. He's also wearing an archetypal green communist officer's field cap and has a similarly colored messenger bag with Mao imagery slung around his shoulder.

The Wall Street Journal, which flagged Bush's bizarre picture, notes that reaction in the Chinese community has been mixed, ranging in the Weibo community from confusion to outrage. Though many took it as a joke, one person likened it to dressing up in Nazi gear and posting a photo on Twitter, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Near the entrance to the Forbidden City which was overrun with tourists they had lots of kiosks of vendors selling souvenirs. One of their most popular items was the Mao worker hat, that would sell like cowboy hats sell in the U.S. when you visit touristy places out west.

Bush brother's divorce reveals sex romps

HOUSTON, Texas (Reuters) -- Neil Bush, younger brother of President Bush, detailed lucrative business deals and admitted to engaging in sex romps with women in Asia in a deposition taken in March as part of his divorce from now ex-wife Sharon Bush.

According to legal documents disclosed Tuesday, Sharon Bush's lawyers questioned Neil Bush closely about the deals, especially a contract with Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp., a firm backed by Jiang Mianheng, the son of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin, that would pay him $2 million in stock over five years.

Marshall Davis Brown, lawyer for Sharon Bush, expressed bewilderment at why Grace would want Bush and at such a high price since he knew little about the semiconductor business.

"You have absolutely no educational background in semiconductors do you?" asked Brown.

"That's correct," Bush, 48, responded in the March 4 deposition, a transcript of which was read by Reuters after the Houston Chronicle first reported on the documents.

"And you have absolutely over the last 10, 15, 20 years not a lot of demonstrable business experience that would bring about a company investing $2 million in you?"

Thanks for the kind reminder about Grace Semiconductor, MrScorpio!

One needs a specialized computer program to track of all these shenanigans.

The INSLAW Octopus

Software piracy, conspiracy, cover-up, stonewalling, covert action: Just another decade at the Department of Justice

By Richard L. Fricker
Wired
Issue 1.01 Mar/April 1993

EXCERPT...

Orr was impressed with the power of PROMIS (Prosecutors Management Information Systems), which had recently been updated by Inslaw to run on powerful 32-bit VAX computers from Digital Equipment Corp. "He fell in love with the VAX version," Hamilton recalled.

SNIP...

A House Judiciary Committee report released last September found evidence raising "serious concerns" that high officials at the Department of Justice executed a pre-meditated plan to destroy Inslaw and co-opt the rights to its PROMIS software. The committee's call for an independent counsel have fallen on deaf ears. One journalist, Danny Casolaro, died as he attempted to tell the story (see sidebar), and boxes of documents relating to the case have been destroyed, stolen, or conveniently "lost" by the Department of Justice.

SNIP...

he implications continue: that Meese profited from the sales of the stolen property. That Brian, Meese's business associate, may have been involved in the October Surprise (the oft-debunked but persistent theory that the Reagan campaign conspired to insure that US hostages in Iran were held until after Reagan won the 1980 election, see sidebar). That some of the moneys derived from the illegal sales of PROMIS furthered covert and illegal government programs in Nicaragua. That Oliver used PROMIS as a population tracking instrument for his White House-based domestic emergency management program.

Each new set of allegations leads to a new set of possibilities, which makes the story still more difficult to comprehend. But one truth is obvious: What the Inslaw case presents, in its broadest possible implications, is a painfully clear snapshot of how the Justice Department operated during the Reagan-Bush years.

How much has happened since then. And look how rich our, eh, leaders have gotten.
