Violence is their only answer and their hate fuels their fire. My stomach is in knots.

They are looking for a fight and probably an opportunity to use their weapons.

That doesn't make for good PR.

We have to have courage and stand up to them, peacefully.

they can find provocation. The cops do it all the time. "I thought the phone was a gun!"

I don't know what can be done, but this will get legs and the intimidation tactics will only increase.

What level of risk to the lives of the people attending balances against the desire to not be perceived as weak?

In their calculation, the balance favored avoiding the risk even if it made them look weak. Others might have come to a different calculation.

They’re the ones on the ground there, so I won’t second-guess them though.

You have to be brave. Yes, some will get hurt, maybe even killed. But it will be much, much worse in the long run if you don't stand up to them.

that would be suicide. What good could come over being dead? I guess if I was heavily armed, and had a death wish I'd go. You?

1) I'm going to let the people on the ground with first hand experience of the area and the dynamics make this call.

and 2) I see voter turnout as the only possible metric that would counterbalance a real possibility of risk and harm to the people I'm trying to rally. If I don't see real potential for increasing the number at the polls .. then I don't feel at all compelled to put women and children in the path of a bunch of goobers with guns and pickup trucks. There'll be other days.

Without trump to rally behind they have no effective leadership - even behind him they don't, but that's another topic.

No matter the outcome of the election they have no political value to trump. He will hit them to sell whatever wares he has, but there's nothing he can do for the base. Another four years would only serve financial interests, his supporters be damned.
