a neighbor who has had a huge Trump flag outside his house for months was taking it down. I had to ask him, I just had to. I said "why are you taking it down the election isn't until tomorrow"? He said "I can't vote for him this time, I'm just staying home tomorrow". I know I looked stunned because he told me he was stuck in the traffic in Texas and saw them trying to run the bus off the road. He said he expected Trump to say it was wrong and he didn't. He told me he thought all the stuff about Trump voters was fake news, but he saw this live and in color. Wow, I was stunned. He has stickers all over his car and truck along with the flag. He works at Tinker Air Force Base.
I hope this is telling, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

(28,787 posts)if he hadn't witnessed the intimidation with his own eyes he'd still be voting for trump.
ETA: saw a picture (think it was on twitter) of a guy at a trump rally wearing a t-shirt upon which he had written: my son died from COVID and I'm voting for trump. so your point is well taken.

(81,220 posts)by celebrating with a delicious bite of CHOCOLATE!!!
We've both been on a diet, slow 'n' steady, since LAST November. Slow 'n' steady rather than a quickie crash-diet. We're older so we don't want to play fast 'n' loose. And we've both lost a VERY nice load of weight, which we intend to keep off this time (um ... so we'll see). It's made both of us feel a lot better, physically, and we needed to do it.
But tomorrow night, if the news is good, I'm going to indulge! Within limits. There's still a little Halloween candy left, and I may dare to partake. Just a wee bit. Portion control and all that dontchaknow. But I'm gonna celebrate.
And the day rush is silenced for good (literally - it will be good that his particular force-fed toxic sludge that's helped ruin our country and severely and maybe even irreparably divided us) will eventually be no more. And that whole hate-radio thing will be officially decapitated (even though I know it will continue with others fighting to claim his "crown" for themselves).
I eagerly look forward to welcoming that day. Even limbaugh won't last forever. Thank God.

(81,220 posts)I noticed a couple of annoying little things, health-wise, started improving noticeably after I'd gotten down by about 30 pounds or so.
By now, husband and I have each lost between 45-50 pounds. Each! (Shows ya what a bad girl I've been, though...)
Also had a minor "come-to-Jesus moment" about what looked like it COULD be the beginning of a red-flag alert (said she, with NO professional medical training). Husband looks to be facing heart/circulation/hypertension problems if he doesn't lose weight, but for me it was fear of possible late-onset diabetes if I didn't straighten up. I'm technically under my goal by a few pounds, which gives me some leeway for tomorrow night if I feel like celebrating. I strongly and successfully resisted getting into the Halloween candy, keeping that in mind.
We're getting old. Time to stop acting like undisciplined children. Well, at least, in THIS regard, anyway...

(8,036 posts)That's what I'm really hoping for in Texas, Georgia, and really ALL over. The fewer republicans show up to the polls, the better chance we have of taking the senate and state legislatures across the country.
I'm still hoping a lot of republican voters in Alabama won't show up! That's one senate race we need to keep.

Ms. Toad
(34,062 posts)is that the Biden/Harris car was the aggressor - the Trump truck was just defending itself. So had he not seen it with his own eyes, he would have beleived that line. The video as to what happened before the Trump truck got aggressive isn't very clear. It looks to me as if the campaign car was straddling two lanes (likely trying to protect the bus from attack/too close driving in either lane). The Trump truck came up from behind to the right and shoved the campaign car out of hte lane.
But what is being portrayed is not that the car was intentionally straddling the lane - but that it was actively moving into the truck's lane, putting the truck's safety in jeopardy - and the truck was just protecting itself.
LPBBEAR
(295 posts)I believe the Biden vehicle also had its right turn signal on. I would have to go back and review the video again but that is what registers in my memory. My guess is the Biden vehicle was trying to get behind the bus and were signaling that intention but the Truck load of RWNJ's sped up and physically blocked them.
Ms. Toad
(34,062 posts)the Biden vehicle. The two times I can clearly track it, it is stradling the line.
And yes, the Trump truck sped up and deliberateley rammed it.
LPBBEAR
(295 posts)I did recheck the video. Yes, the Biden vehicle IS signaling its intention with a right turn signal. Its clearly blinking when the Truck of RWNJ's rams them. It also appears to me that the Truck sped up to cut them off and purposely rammed the Biden vehicle.
Ms. Toad
(34,062 posts)I've seen another video the driver of the truck took. When he joined the "train," he was probably a mile back - so he was racing to get up to right behind the bus.

When I went outside of Ann Arbor, I saw more Trump signs with John James signs, which is no surprise since that area and Chelsea are rural areas. Fortunately, I saw a Biden sign for every Trump sign in the red area of Washtenaw County. I am optimistic that Biden wins Michigan.

(3,493 posts)Last year we moved from Nashville to a VERY small rural town in Tennessee. We put up a Biden/Harris sign in the front yard, knowing ours would be the only one in town. To my surprise, nobody has messed with it. In fact, I drove around town looking to see how many Trump signs there were, and there were only TWO houses with the signs. It doesn't seem like there's much enthusiasm for him.
And I'm starting to hear from relatives that used to be big supporters; "I'm staying home".

(9,650 posts)Some neighbors I know who live down the street from me, evangelicals, shocked me when I saw a Biden yard sign in front of their house. And they have down-ballot yard signs for local races in the yard as well.
Another couple, close friends of mine, married many years, both veterans, long-time Trump supporters.
Months ago they had a Trump sign in their window. I was at their house a few days ago and it is gone. I'm guessing that Trump calling veterans losers and suckers was the straw that broke the camel's back for them. (The husband has three purple hearts. He left a few inches of one of his legs in Vietnam.)

(11,563 posts)Texas is virtually in a dead heat, last poll results I saw. Perhaps it is very, very close to being tipped. In 2016, 70,000 well-placed votes would have flipped the election. It might be that a few hundred here and a couple of thousand there will turn some districts blue.

Trump has spent alot of the campaign trying to demonize 'the radical left' for riots etc. But this has little effect because it's obvious he and his base are the ones who thrive on chaos and division - and that Biden is a uniter.
