What are the odds that Romney will actually bring up the "birther" issue of where Obama was

born. My wife believes Obama should have his long form of his birth certificate handy and ONLY if Romney brings it up. Show it to Romney have copies that will be release to media (again) AND then turn to Romney and ask for his Tax returns for the past 10 years.

I only bring it up because a Wing-nut my wife and I know was saying how Romney will win the election if he calls Obama out on his birth place. So my wife reminded this woman that Romney wanted 10 years of taxes to make his VP choice and he should give the American Public the same info.

The woman was pissed and "ended" the conversation as she normally does. "He's a muslim trying to convert all Americans to the Muslim faith or kill us!"

I think he's totally incompetent, but has enough sense to that that is an unpopular line of thought among voters he desperately needs.

how mainstream the birther issue has become.
I have a friend, who is a republican but is pretty sure Obama will win. The other night my husband and I were laughing at the birther nonsense when he pipes up and says " Its true... he wasn't born here..." My honey and I were literally .
So I asked him how he" could possibly know more than the FBI, the CIA, Secret Service and the state of Hawaii who have all said he was born there?"
He was gobsmacked and could not answer and mumbled something to effect of " This is why I hate politics!"
Dumbass. It shut him up anyways...

That being said Romney would be an idiot to bring it up. Most people watching the debates are into politics more than the average Joe and are more informed.

Romney is on record as disavowing birtherism. The notion that he's change course on that in his first televised debate, which would become the one and only story coming out of that debate is beyond naive.

In contrast, the Brown campaign has been on record as questioning Warren's claim of Cherokee heritage since last spring. That he would raise it during the debate was consistent with what he's said in the past.

Presidential debates are bland, cautious affairs where it's more important to be boring than go out on a limb.

I certainly wouldn't put it past him to use it the very next day at whatever county fair he's stumping at. But he isn't going to do it on national television.

instead of marginalized yet again as a "birther" issue! If he lied about where he was born, he is INELIGIBLE to be the President! And I want his school records from Columbia, come to think of it! Something's rotten in the state of Kenya...
