Getting no Sleep and Thinking about Covid Vaccines
It is too stressful thinking about the election so I am thinking about Covid instead.
Immunity to Covid does not appear to be assured by recovery. This may indicate that an effective vaccine may be hard to produce. If this is the case, then a complete lock down like New Zealand did may be the only way to deal with this.
As more countries start seriously locking down, it will look bad for a month. Then all the countries that have managed to control the virus will have a serious economic advantage.
Countries that do not lock down and eliminate the virus will be at considerable disadvantage.
Because we have a sizable population of total wingbat idiots who have bought into the anti mask idiocy and made it an issue they are willing to assault people over, we will be faced with an interesting situation.
My suspicion is that the conservative billionaire club will have a serious falling out. The separation between those who are more invested in America and those who are more aligned with Putin will probably become easy to see. The Kochs Mercers, and the Murdochs will have some interesting decisions to make. I think it is unlikely that Putin will put his people first and try to encourage the elimination of covid. I think it is more likely that he will continue to covertly fund conservative nut farms in order to sow chaos in the USA. It is possible that Putin will want to preserve his channels of misinformation for another day. It is also possible that he will double down and be willing to sacrifice his channels in order to keep America a diseased pariah as long as possible.
As we find it necessary to lock down intensively for a month the pockets most easily persuaded by covert propaganda may make it several months and much more expensive than it could have otherwise been.
