The Dow Jones & Company that Ruppert Murdoch owns is a news service.

The Dow Jones as it relates to the stock market is an index of 30 stocks that is supposed to serve as a proxy for how the market is doing overall. (There's reasons why it's not the best index anymore, but that's beyond the scope of this message.)

Anyway, you're talking about two different things.
