A win is a win and Trump will have to pack his bags by January 20th 2021. Just think about that.

(13,024 posts)msnbc saying he thinks Biden would win 270-300 but anything beyond that he doubted. Everyone must keep in mind Biden camp has always told us to work to GOTV like we're behind, and even Obama told us he thought it would be a close one. Both of them were right. So why people are shocked it wasn't a sweep is beyond me.
Anyhow, i am happy now knowing Biden will pull ahead & come out on top. What happens after that & w/ all the legal shenanigans the Con is pulling, we can only hope & pray the courts do the right thing.

(7,263 posts)We wasted $200,000,000 on SC and FL. 2 races Dems took the bait on. Not to mention all the money that went into Kentucky - a lost cause that Dems got sentimental about.
That money could have been put to much better use.
The Presidential campaign game plan was superb...some of the State parties got their asses handed to them.

(63,893 posts)This tells me we didn't see it coming. How do we change the way we do electoral voting so we can better get a grip on what's going on and how to combat it, going forward?

Assist the States to pay for Federal Elections and standardize them so the playing field is equal.
Get rid of the ancient Electronic voting machines and tabulators and fund real SECURE Electronic voting.
Banks have done it for ATM's since the 1970's, no reason that Election technology can't be upgrades to 21st Century Standards and made very very secure. Except the lack of will on the Federal level.
There's more but I'll stop there.

(63,893 posts)I don't see any, and I think you are on good grounds here. But I am wary of anything that could hinder us in the Supreme Court and invite a defeat before we even start. Now that the repukes have the Court's majority locked down, I would like to know in advance how our plans could invite a court challenge, specious tho we may think it is.

Why won't we listen to the Information Technology Scientists and Engineers on Election Reform?
We are so adamant about backing the medical and climate sides of science...it really puzzles me.

(63,893 posts)see what engineers might not see. That's what they do.
I am neither a lawyer nor an IT engineer. I am an art historian, which gets me, and my Master's degree, NOTHING when it comes to these matters. So I must ask others.

I understand what you are saying. No worries. I'm fine.
This project will be as complex as building a bomb or sending men to outer space. Those included folks from a lot of disciplines...including artists and historians.
Point is the ideas need to be seriously discussed rather then just shrugging them off as tinhat or not practical.
I've run many projects, and the key to success is to keep an open mind, get best in field experts, and trust them in whatever their recommendations are, keep collective eyes on the ball and don't get distracted by diversions, and get innovative.
Great questions, btw. You caught me having a no sleep hangover and I get very chatty then.

(7,263 posts)I've advocated for some of these issues since I joined DU in 2003.
We engineer types always look for solutions to problems.
And the quantum nature of reality means that we live in a beautiful chaotic but uncaring universe.
Time for a bowl. I'd share if I could.

(15,534 posts)That may be just me, but I have become very skeptical in my old age and after the elections of 2000 and 2016. If he wins we'll own two of the three branches of government and I'm happy with that.
My biggest mental strain every single day is having to hear about him 24/7 and all the shit he spews from that ugly mouth.

(7,263 posts)The other stuff is gravy at this point.
Get The Oval Office and we can work on getting the Senate in 2 years...not that long.
And we'll have a sane Leader working in that office on a daily basis.
That spells relief!
