I hate to say it, but I and my youngest brother are out numbered by members of the other three siblings families. I use to think they were intelligent, but something drastic happened when tRump came on the scene. I don't understand the attraction.

is the saddest. Those of us who "lost" family to this cult may never have a whole, healthy family again. That is an outcome of the past 4 years. My heart is heavy for all of us who deal with this.

I keep recommending Game Change, the book and movie, because it is so damn good at capturing the plague that was Palin. Many people involved in that campaign spoke of the veractiy of the story.

She will go down as a remarkable but negative footnote of political history.
Trump will overshadow Nixon for ages, hopefully no one will overshadow him in future political crime stories.

As far as I saw it, he wasn't against appointing more conservative judges. He wasn't against tax breaks for billionaires. He wasn't FOR M4A or the Green New Deal, or anything close to that.

All TLP wanted was to rid the party of the embarrassment of Donald Trump as their leader.

As far as stymieing any of the more liberal Democratic agendas by keeping the Senate, I don't think they are particularly sad about that.

But if it hadn't been for people like him, George Will, and other Goppers supporting policies that separated us, destroyed our educational system and suported obstructionism, FOR DECADES, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Yes, Trump is a loser, but he doesn't exist in a vacuum.

He’s on our side - FOR NOW.

STRICTLY for NOW.

Glad to have him pushing and pulling in the same direction we are. But he’s still GOP. He’s still on that side of the aisle. And as far as I can tell, he hasn’t renounced ANY of that side’s basic philosophy. It’s just trump he can’t stomach.

So, FINE! I’ll take it. But with eyes wide open. I’ll shake his hand with one hand but I’ll have a big spiked club in the other hand, hidden behind my back.

Not ready to drop my guard with ANY of these people. Even the ones who sound good - at the moment.

The proof of the pudding comes later. Do folks like them go back to their bad old ways and bad old thinking after trump is no longer a factor?

And one more thought:
I heard some commentator saying trump may lose this, but “trumpism” is FAR from dead and buried. And while any of THAT still walks the earth, we aren’t safe, we aren’t secure, and we haven’t fully vanquished the enemy.

…..fully trust The Lincoln Project. They still worship Trickle Down Reagan. One of them brought us Sarah Palin, whom Obama always said "set the table for Trump".

Anyone who built up the Republican Party for decades has a lot to atone for. This is just the beginning of undoing the damage they caused.

And I said so awhile back. I said I hoped somebody was keeping an inventory of all the antiques and carpets, draperies, paintings, busts, and other collectibles. Because I FULLY expect him and some wrecking crew to come in and make off with some priceless objects - as much as they think they can get away with.

Charles P. Pierce
@CharlesPPierce
The Lincoln Project didn't move 10 votes. They certainly didn't materially affect the Republican side.

See Tweet for link to Pierce Esquire article.

I agree with Pierce. As much as I love Steve Schmidt - and he arguably provided the intellectual ballast for defeating Trump - I have frequently derided TLP on DU for merely supporting each other in self-congratulatory back slapping, it is a rebellion of the Republican intelligentsia.

I'm with with Charles Pierce - these guys, unfortunately, did nothing useful.
Great ads - no effect.

I've come to like Steve Schmidt & respect his eloquence but at this moment I'd be happy if he shut up and stayed on his horse in the mountains of Utah for a spell. A good long spell.
