I would argue that the Lincoln Project, for example, wasn't our enemy in this election. Or Cindy McCain.

Biden's statement is a bit vague, but the point is that not every Republican is Mitch McConnell or Donald Trump. He really means that not all Republicans are our enemies, but that doesn't have the same impact.

We tend to forget that a pretty big chunk of the populace wants to see some level of bipartisanship. Not everyone is hyper-partisan.

Voters are and not necessarily Republican ones. Comments like this are for the independents. If we could keep them generally leaning left, as it appears they are at present, we can continue to make gains in 2022 and 2024.

We don't need to meet in the middle if we can make long-term gains at all levels. That's the motivation behind comments like this, not some odd notion that we'll sway people like Mitch McConnell.
