It’s also true that control of the executive branch has shifted after every impeachment. Johnson was a Democrat. He was followed by Grant. Clinton was a Democrat (allegedly). He was followed by Bush. Trump is now the definition of a Republican. He will be followed by a true Democrat, Joe Biden.

Even Nixon’s almost-impeachment followed this same pattern. No, Trump wasn’t removed from office by the Senate. No President ever has been, but I credit Nancy Pelosi for impeaching Trump. He seriously deserved it.

or he tried to run, but couldn't get the parties nominees. Trump is probably going to try to be the only impeached President to have lost the popular vote twice to come back and win the Presidency after losing it in 2024.
