Arlington Co. (Virginia) police investigate razor blades on political sign

Police in Arlington County, Virginia, said Thursday they are carrying out a criminal investigation after a woman reported she was sliced by razor blades taped to a political sign.

Police said the woman had removed political signs from the median of George Mason Drive between Yorktown Boulevard and Four Mile Run Drive on Wednesday and was separating the signs from their metal bases when she was cut by the razor blades, which had been taped to the bottom of the sign.

The woman had minor injuries, which did not require medical attention, police said. No other similar incidents have been reported, but police said they are continuing to investigate.

Police released photos of the sign, which showed at least four razor blades taped to the bottom strip of a sign.

Police did not say what cause or candidate the political sign referenced.

There is a Trump psycho around. Every Biden sign destroyed, but lots of other scary stuff as well in my deep, deep blue neighborhood.

2. Not a good idea to do this to signs on public property

I was tempted to put hot pepper on my Biden signs that were constantly being stolen from the polling site, but decided I didn't want to hurt anyone.

If a sign is in the wrong place they have a right to remove it. Also signs were getting blown over at the site and people were picking them up and resetting them. The Dems would tend to other Dems signs and there was not really any coordination. It just isn't a good site for monkey business.

Fortunately, the Biden campaign had enough signs to restock and Biden's were the only signs stolen this cycle

5. Nobody EVER collected signs from my yard. I took them down myself and saved them as souvenirs.

Why would library staff be collecting people's yard signs? That's the only sign that I'd be willing to put a sticky-trap on... my own!

The razor blades on the sign above were on a sign placed on public property. (median)

When signs are at a polling site the election staff or the venue has a right to move them if they're in the wrong place. Also a bunch of signs were blown over and Democrats would pick up and reset other Democrats signs.

Even in your own yard, they'd be a danger to kids and animals. A lawsuit waiting to happen.

There are plenty of non-hazardous ways to protect your signs. Just gotta be creative!
