(128,860 posts)and the traffic is usually a nightmare as it is because it is also part of Chinatown and is always bustling. So I try to avoid Arch St. between 10th & 12th St. They hold the Philadelphia Flower Show in there (although not next year due to COVID) and I went right as the pandemic was hitting in March and they did have plenty of hand sanitizer around but this was "pre-masking". We were concerned but managed to go and get out without an issue (there are usually 200,000 - 300,000 who to that Flower Show during the week).
Here is our local 6abc TV station link where they got the story - https://6abc.com/philly-police-investigating-pa-convention-center-attack-plot/7689932/
I am sure they were thrilled to get a lease for this counting in there because they had to cancel ALL of their conventions and events.
I actually attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the original main building of that Center back in 1993, that featured one of our previous Vice Presidents giving a keynote - Al Gore! My mom wanted to go to the opening just to "see" it and when we got down there, we found ourselves whisked into the "V.I.P." section right in front of the stage, literally standing maybe 20 feet from VP. Gore.
