Provided we survive this wretched blot on our history. Years later most of the guys who were all in favor of the Vietnam war and shooting hippies downplay or outright deny they took that stance. I suppose going further back a lot of those red scare McCarthy types disavowed him a decade later. That was a bit before my time but sounds like it was pretty bad for awhile. As time passes and the trump years recede into a cautionary tale in history books I really doubt his worshipers will openly admit they were big supporters.

(1,202 posts)I know plenty of people who were rabid George W. Bush supporters. Nearly all of them basically trash him now and fell in love with Trump. So I'm certain the same will happen here.

My guess is that they will latch onto one of his horrid offspring when their current golden calf is no more. The cycle will continue on until the RW propaganda machine of 1500 24/7/365 hate radio stations and FAUX is neutralized.

(1,202 posts)Based strictly on Trump folks I know, his allure is that they see his as a hugely successful businessman living a lavish lifestyle. They see a track record of him dating/marrying glamorous women and hob-knobbing with celebrities. They also see him as a fat, unattractive elderly man which they themselves can relate to. Most of the folks I know are also loudmouths and name callers just like Trump. Some of them have told me they love how he calls people out. It's all about being able to relate to him on certain levels, and living vicariously through him on other levels.

Trump will command a base of 5% MINIMUM republican votes nationwide and continue to be king maker to the republican party.
This is not done on Jan 20th, Trump will be around until the kGOP puts him in jail

The younger ones? They are going to grow old and bitter, sitting around watching reruns of TV shows from their youth, and wondering why the world they wanted just....doesn't exist.

You won't hear the end of the Biden recession.

Best of all, now that they're a church, they won't even have to pretend to pay taxes.
Most people will still think they're nuts.
