COVID-19 - 18 of the worst 20 states, per capita, have REPUBLICAN Governors

Anyone surprised by this?

The deaths per capita are more heavily led by Dem Governors but much of that happened very early on when it wasn't known how effective masks would end up being, no physical distancing was going on, not much work from home or closed restaurants/bars/etc and PPE was being prioritized for "front line workers"

There's NO excuse for the massive rise we've seen over the last month or two in predominantly "red" states.

Because our Democratic governor has been blocked by our GOP legislature and supreme court at every turn.

I don't see how it could not be. Their overturning of everything Gov. Evers (D) does has literally killed people here. Not hyperbolic in the least.

seems to want a really high case count and death toll.

She has also declared that local school districts can't make their own decisions, instead, they can request a waiver to move to online schooling for 14 days IF the county positive rate is over 15% AND 10% of students are absent for that 14 days. But, the state can take as long as it chooses to grant or decline the waiver, so I doubt any school will receive one.

Of course, online school is problematic in our town, where nearly 2/3 of students don't have an internet connection at their home.

Governor Evers wanted to keep everyone safe, but he's powerless with a Republican dominated gerrymandered legislature and tea bag supreme court.
Illinois is surrounded by states with Republican rule: Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and Iowa. It's much harder to get our numbers down.

it's the wis and missouri border that is f'ing us up.

and the thugs in the state house. jb passed what looked like a law, requiring employees to wear masks at work. turns out it was just an advisory. some undefined 'groups' can report businesses and get them fined. but you cant call the cops and get someone ticketed.

12.7% positivity in suburban Cook yesterday...more than double from the beginning of October. People and businesses are so fatigued, I just don’t know how we regain control of this virus.

Around here, many bars/restaurants seem to be ignoring the most recent shutdown order, and local police seem reluctant to do anything about it.

And it will probably be worse in the Northern GOP states for awhile too, due to colder weather. That won't surprise me either.
