Honest Question. When is it NOT breaking news at CNN

If I heard the CNN theme without the breaking news graphic, I'm not sure I would recognize it.

I know the Trump years are eventful. But do we really need a breaking news banner this often?

One day there really is going to be breaking news and nobody will notice. Their breaking news theme has become the car alarm going off in the mall parking lot.

and avoid the 24/7 Breaking Noise Infotainment Cable Channels. Their job is to fill airtime between ads for drugs we never knew we needed. Sometimes they brush up against journalism in doing so, but it is mostly just blather.

It meant something like a horrific plane crash, an attack by enemies, or an assassination.

... the term, now. Ratings went up wit it, so they all use it all the time. It used to mean a President was shot or Elvis died.

Every story is breaking news along with the flashy Fox news like graphics. Drives me nuts.
