Perhaps Congress will get serious about voting reform, standardization and accountability and judicial importance. And get rid of the electoral college!
Enough of this shit. Make it so no one can question the outcome of the elections. And messing with the votes should be a high crime, even all the way to the the highest government positions.
I know we can do it, so lets do it.

(15,065 posts)BUT - you might want to give Ol' Mitch a call first. He would sit on this bill too.
We want to set up fair and transparent elections. He and his R cohorts do not.

(53,410 posts)Even if we have 50/50 tied it will basically make McConnell toothless if Kamala Harris is the deciding vote. Im assuming the Republicans will stop doing absolute zilch and decide to start working for the benefit of their constituents. But if not then we can stop him dead in his tracks.

(7,275 posts)Maybe now that Rs think they're on the receiving end, maybe we can get serious about election security and reform? The time is now!

(4,845 posts)It's not the same reform that we are talking about. They will want to purge more people off the voter roll, require more voter ID or confirmation, etc.

(52,121 posts)but yeah, absolutely, we need voting to be easy and free.
zero disenfranchisement, your right to vote can only be transferred to another jurisdiction when you move, it can never be taken away for any reason, period.
vote-by-mail everywhere
free id provided by social security administration if state won't issue one free and no hassle.
same-day registration, motor-voter registration, simple, free and easy.
paper ballots only, no untrustworthy electronic voting devices.
no preconditions to voting like paying fines or anything. you're 18, you're a citizen, you can vote. for free. period.
no games with allocation of polling places. no engineering of long lines to discourage voting.
etc.
Nothing happens until 2023 at the earliest.
Until then, it's trench warfare.

(53,410 posts)Add the availability of tracking to all voters so they can see their ballot have been received. Or better still make it so the voter is automatically notified of receipt of their ballot.
