'Cash-poor': Brad Parscale reportedly denies leaving Trump campaign on verge of bankruptcy
Donald Trump's re-election campaign was strapped for cash during a crucial period over the summer, according to a Politico postmortem.
The report sources the financial strain back to Brad Parscale, the former San Antonio digital expert who was replaced as campaign manager in July.
Before his demotion, Parscale had spent millions on pricey ad buys including a $10 million Super Bowl spot and purchased a fleet of luxury vehicles. The campaign, which also had to cover legal fees during Trump's impeachment proceedings, burned through its massive war chest.
Bill Stepien, Parscale's replacement, began poring over finances in his first days on the job. He found that the campaign was "on track to go broke" by the beginning of October, Politico reports, and decided to freeze staff raises and cut the TV budget.
