and months every single night, I can sorrowfully say we bear a lot of the responsibility too. Starting June 10, we opened up all bars and restaurants to indoor dining/drinking at 50% capacity. Since then, some other restrictions have been eased. None have been tightened with the notable exception of Minneapolis Mayor Frey in late July closing the actual bar areas in bars and restaurants to people standing or sitting at them (they now have to all sit at tables which have complicated occupancy limits).
We've been watching our cases rise and rise since mid-September, but nothing except more easings. Meanwhile, the 7 day moving average of daily new cases surpassed its previous all time peak on September 21 at 856 cases. As of November 8, the 7dma of new cases is 4,313 cases, a 5-fold increase.

In just the last 14 days, our new cases have gone up 2.75-fold.
We're now #7 at your link ( https://covidactnow.org/?s=1304314 ) in daily new cases per capita, and have a high 14.9% test positivity rate.
I read today that Governor Walz is planning to announce new restrictions tomorrow, Tuesday. FINALLY.
Yes of course it hasn't helped that 3 of our 4 U.S. neighbors (NoDak, SoDak, Wisconsin) have been in the top 3 or 4 spots most of the time for weeks in terms of new cases per capita. (The 4th U.S. neighbor, Iowa, has ranked between #5 and #8 for weeks until recently. Its now at #4).

(19,021 posts)I feel like the red states and the swing states are doomed to a terrible next few months.
Trump had rally after rally here in MI, no one wore masks. Thousands will die needlessly.

(16,376 posts)I respect Gov. Polis and he was able to put a dent in the first March-May wave, but I think he's really going to have to lower the boom again--soon! He has re-issued the "Safer At Home" policy for the state, yet nobody seems to be paying much attention to it. I have seen good compliance for masks, but other than that nothing much has slowed down. I don't know what it's going to take.

(10,901 posts)One can't sit or stand at a bar or counter, with the exception of places that have only bar or counter service - there you can order your food and drink there, but must return to your table. If no table, you're SOOL.
