"We need to succeed [sic] from the union and form our own country." MS House Rep

Ashton Pittman @ashtonpittman

Mississippi House Rep. Price Wallace: “We need to succeed [sic] from the union and form our own country."

That tweet came in response to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' victory in the presidential race.

In one tweet thread, Foster wrote that the United States is “not a democracy” but “a constitutional republic”—referencing an old John Birch Society talking point meant to cast doubt on the value of majoritarian democracy.

Rep. Price Wallace, a Republican member of the Mississippi House who represents Rankin and Simpson counties and ran for office unopposed in 2019, wrote back.

“We need to succeed from the union and form our own country,” Rep. Wallace wrote, misspelling “secede.”

Foster did not respond.

...and any seceded areas would quickly become such.

I say "areas" because if secession were recognized, so would the right for portions of those states to secede from them and remain, as West Virginia did.

Mississippi could lose about a third of the state that way.

Lock him up.

10 red states that mooch off the federal government

Republicans claim they've had it with American socialism. Maybe they should return the tax dollars subsidizing them

Although they probably would return to slavery if they succeeded.

Georgia and NC are on the verge of turning blue. There are 10 million people in each of those states, and they’re not all hopeless rednecks.

Besides, there are racist and gun-toting assholes everywhere.

After winning the Civil War, he should have let Sherman burn the entire Confederacy to the ground and then said go be your own country. It would have instantly become a third-world shithole without support from the industrialized Northeast. Instead we’ve be locked in a Cold War with the Confederacy for the past 150 years.

There are those in the USA who WOULD consider it a success if Mississippi would secede from the USA. I can understand why some white people in Mississippi would want to secede. For Mississippi to survive as a stand alone country, they would need to return to slave labor to keep their economy afloat. Even Elvis escaped to Memphis.

We’ll even do it for the same 15M we received in 1803.

Then, instead of endlessly sending bail out money to those states, we could send relocation funds to liberal/Dem individuals in those areas to move to Texas and Florida, turning those state blue in the process.

He can pick any other country he likes and live there. Since he’s so politically savvy, educated in liberty, and a good speller, he can engineer his ‘republic’ elsewhere its needed and show us all how its done.
