8. I am kind of curious as to how Trump did so well, compared to recent past elections, in New York.

He came within 12.7 points of Biden.

That doesn't sound right to me.

10. It might be possible. There are

large rural areas in NY that are solid red. If they turned out in larger numbers than usual, it might narrow the gap. The R's are pushing hard to expand in NY.

Besides, Trump significantly improved on his 2016 performance in Long Island, Westchester, and New York City.

That is why I was wondering if maybe all of the votes have not been counted. I thought that maybe they are waiting to count some of the early votes that didn't come in by a certain date. But I couldn't find an article that indicated that this was the case.

In any event, I just found an article that helps to explain this. Apparently there are 1.5 million absentee ballots that are about to be counted. And Democratic ballots outnumber Republican ballots by about 3.5 to 1. So I think I have my answer. It looks like the final margin will be 60.1% to 38.6%, or margin of victory of 22.5%, which is exactly what Clinton won by in 2016.

absentee and mail in votes late, after election day, in order to allow all ballots that were postmarked by the date of election day to be included in the count. Not a
problem most years, but this year, of course is different because of the numbers.

If I'd remembered that, I could have given you your answer brfore.

However, it is true that rural areas here are red outside of Buffalo, Rochester, and NYC, with some small blue patches here and there. It's also true that R's are working hard to expand in NY.

12. Yet, it's the Republicans who fight paper audit trails for many of the state voting systems.

.

States that do not have paper audit trails should not be subject to recounts, just tally verification.

After all, apparently vote accuracy was not paramount.

...because for years (at least in Florida), there has been DRE hacking, ballot manipulation (butterfly, etc.), and now undelivered mail. Any examination of the process can only increase Democratic votes.
