21. our neighbors and longtime friends have gone to the dark side..

..we live in the mtns and they came from Seattle every weekend ( for 20 years) to camp on their next door property and we always did stuff together..traveled a lot together as well....attended kids weddings, baby showers, watched dogs etc. We share a common driveway into our homes. Three years ago they retired and built a home on their property behind us and since then we have hardly seen them. Funny thing is they were the last people we dined out with before covid. Since we are all so far from town we relied on one another for help around the properties..loaning equipment, time , sharing resources etc. I could sense their coolness many months ago..and they posted an anti Gov. Jay Inslee sign high on a tree ( they had never been registered to vote) but hubby still acted as if we are all BFF's and Monday he approached the husband for some help with snow plowing and was told they 'didnt have time'. Hubby is crushed and feeling really personally rejected. I saw this coming but hubby thinks everyone is as nice as he is.

There are always people riding quads up to their property..just other folks from the canyon. No social distancing and they are pissed about masking up...so Im sure they are all up there drinking beer and plotting gawd knows what.
