It's my birthday tomorrow.

I was fortunate to have a womb mate and share a birthday with a woman who resembles me, a lot. But she's probably smarter and is definitively wittier than I am. She's also a Democrat. You'd love her.

We were born in Georgia on Veteran's Day. Somewhat of a coincidence as our father left for Vietnam sixteen days later. My mom was a young woman in her early twenties, twin infants, husband in a war zone, and attending college classes that first year of our lives. I never appreciated what my mom went through until I became a mom myself and could barely manage one infant at a time with a husband right by my side. We sure can level up when challenged, can't we?

I've never been much of an occasion person. My husband has long since given up hope that I'll consistently remember our anniversary. Every year on my birthday I think more about my parents than I do about myself. The fact that I've made it through another trip around the sun is cool, but their responsibility for making that even possible means way more to me. It's been an honor to be their daughter.

My husband is definitely an occasion person. For weeks he'll ask me what I want for my birthday, what kind of special meal I'd like, etc. My shrug with "some time with our family would be nice" is positively maddening to him. Consequently, I shocked the daylights out of him last night when I brought the subject up and declared I had a preference for marking the occasion this year.

Georgia had a Democratic governor and two Democratic senators when I was born. I'd like to see that happen again in my lifetime. Especially now that the two senators would be Democrats on the right side of social justice. We'll tackle the Kemp problem in 2022.

The money we typically set aside in the family budget for my birthday went straight to Georgia this morning. I'm fine with waiting until January 05 for delivery.

I'd post this tomorrow, but I have plans that may or may not be conducive to internet access. Depends on the weather.
