I saw a right-wing talking head on CNN today

He was waving around a sheet of paper on which he said was proof that a woman had voted by mail for Joe Biden and mailed it in, but was dead on election day, so her vote should not count.

He said that was proof of fraud, of a dead person voting.

During mail in voting I remember more than a couple stories of people wanting so bad to vote Trump out and able to mail off the ballot before they died. One was a youngish woman in her 30's. They didn't count her vote. I think that is unfair.

Since Oregon adopted total vote by mail, there are stories every election cycle about voters who cast their last ballot and died before election day. See, that's what happens in a state that wants its citizens to vote and for its government to be representative of the electorate.

In North Carolina, votes cast early don't count if voter dies before Election Day

Buncombe County Election Services Director Corinne Duncan said, even if you cast your vote early you still have to be alive on Election Day for your vote to count.

Still, in North Carolina, a ballot cast by someone who dies prior to Election Day can be set aside if a challenge is also filed before Election Day with the county board of elections.

Duncan said since absentee voting started a month and a half ago they have been notified of 16 people who voted and then died.

She put that in perspective, saying that normally 300 people die in Buncombe County every month.
