(Bloomberg) -- A lawyer for Detroit slammed a Michigan state court lawsuit alleging widespread voter fraud in the city as an absurdity hours after President Donald Trumps campaign filed a separate federal suit making roughly the same claims.
President-elect Joe Biden has been declared the winner of Michigan, with a roughly 146,000-vote margin over Trump, who has refused to concede the election and claims he was the victim of voter fraud in the Democratic-leaning cities of several battleground states.
Theyre looking wherever they can to get validation for the unsupported conspiracy theories they have, David Fink, a lawyer for Detroit, Michigans largest city, argued in a hearing on Wednesday in Wayne County Circuit Court.
The state court case filed Monday by Trump supporters Cheryl Costantino and Edward McCall Jr. is seeking to block certification of the vote in Detroit and surrounding Wayne County. The federal case filed by the campaign Wednesday seeks to block the statewide election certification also based on allegations of fraud in Wayne County.

Experts: Trumps New Michigan Lawsuit Is Recycled Junk
President Donald Trumps campaign filed a new lawsuit in federal court in Michigan in an attempt to stop the certification of Joe Bidens winbut experts say it wont get much farther than a Chevy Vega.
The Trump team, whose previous brief in the Rust Belt battleground got thrown out by the state Court of Claims last week, filed the new action in federal court for the Western District of Michigan on Wednesday morning.
The 350-page complaint and appended affidavits rehash a litany of a grievances familiar not only from the last case, but also from legal actions the campaign has lodged in multiple states with little success: that the campaigns official observerscalled challengers in Michigandid not have sufficient access to the count, were mistreated by elections employees, witnessed the addition of new names to voter rolls during the tabulation, and believed for unclear reasons that certain ballots had been tampered with or counted twice.
Neither the Trump campaign nor its attorneys replied to requests for comment. Rudy Giuliani, the presidents personal attorney, tweeted Tuesday night that the suit would be sufficient to capsize Bidens 146,000-vote lead in Michigan and reinstall Trump in the White House next year.
