Pastor Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Dallas on Friday had some harsh words for evangelicals who vote for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in the November election.

During an appearance on Fox Business, Jeffress said "there's not a snowball's chance" that Biden receives any "significant evangelical vote," while emphasizing the former vice president's stance on abortion.

"People are being told that if [they] support President Trump, [they] are a racist. Nobody wants to be called that. So, they are not going to admit they are voting for President Trump on November 3," Jeffress added. "There is going to be a tsunami-sized surprise of voters turning out to support our great President Donald Trump."

6. Jeffress is a mainstream Southern Baptist pastor.

The Southern Baptist Convention is the largest Protestant denomination in the United States by far. Jeffress has been preaching within that denomination for many years, and as you point out, he's been very successful at it.

He's likely to lose some of his flock over his recent reversal, though. Apparently, now he's telling them to pray for Biden, but plenty of them worship Trump just as much as they claim to worship Jesus.

It got him within shouting distance of reelection. I think a tack towards normalcy and the middle would have cost him more votes than he would have gained. Given the voter participation rate it was a tsunami on both sides.
