The Dakotas are 'as bad as it gets anywhere in the world' for COVID-19

South Dakota welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors to a massive motorcycle rally this summer, declined to cancel the state fair and still doesn't require masks. Now its hospitals are filling up and the state's current COVID-19 death rate is among the worst in the world.

The situation is similarly dire in North Dakota, with the state's governor recently moving to allow health care workers who have tested positive for COVID-19 to continue working if they don't show symptoms. It's a controversial policy recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in a crisis situation where hospitals are short-staffed.

And now — after months of resisting a statewide mask mandate — North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum changed course late Friday, ordering masks to be worn statewide and imposing several business restrictions.
snip---
Death rates in the past week in North and South Dakota are about the same or higher than the hardest-hit countries in the world right now — the Czech Republic, Belgium and Bosnia and Herzegovina — according to Friday New York Times data. And there's currently nowhere in the U.S. where COVID-19 deaths are more common than in the Dakotas, according to data published by The COVID Tracking Project.

... when all this is over.

Another silver lining: Invest in the casket making industry. Invest in a funeral home.

Dominated by Republican legislatures. Go figure. We are surrounded by idiots, which is driving Minnesota numbers up as well.

That is horrible!

And they STILL voted for Trump on Nov 3rd

They don't 'get' that their State's billion $$$+ oil industry & the communities & jobs it supported, were wiped out because of Trump's lack of attention when the virus came to America.

WTF! ...The "it can't happen here" mentality is their idology. Honestly, to live life so disconnected from reality is incomprehensible.

Guess a big dose of reality was needed to jog that isolationist existance.

I feel really bad for the sane people of the Dakotas, surrounded by ignorant lunatics who are launching them headlong into disaster.

is still being denied as a starting point for this current surge in the Dakotas and possibly the U.S. Why? MSM has and still ignores it as a "superspreader event". Some articles are saying that it's BS that this is why S.D is currently experiencing this current huge surge of COVID-19 cases. Why? Even the most ignorant person lacking the ability in the use of logic can't escape the fact that over 450,00 people meeting in a small town in S.D would create a "superspreader event". And would not wear masks because their 'great leader' said they were not needed.

I am just amazed at the level of denial concerning this 'rally'. Hell, trump has reveled in his anti-mask lunacy and is still doing so by his lies and obfuscation of facts concerning the spread. He and his 'crew' having access to the best medicine(s) money and power can buy, which is why even in having the virus they seem, for the time being, to have escaped the worst symptoms. And this is medicine which most of us will never see, does not stop the fact that the level where exponential spread of this virus cannot be contained is here. New vaccine or not. Which as a vaccine also has not been tested enough because of political pressure from the idiots squatting in the WH.

"Death rates in just the past week in North and South Dakota are the same or higher than the hardest hit countries in the world right now". "And there's currently nowhere in the U.S. where COVID-19 deaths are more common than in the Dakotas". That speaks volumes to me about the obvious denial rampant n MSM in informing we the people.

Because their "great leader" cared nothing about ANY American dying from this dangerous pandemic, neither did they and at 72 years old, I am enraged at the level of ignorance and outright stupidity that was shown by these 450,00 potential patient zeros that helped spread this virus nationwide.
