(1,725 posts)Since the FBI considers them the most dangerous groups in the country, whoever gets appointed AG will oversee that, right? With their trump inspired boldness they should be easy to infiltrate.

(8,090 posts)Perhaps you or another DUer can refresh my memory - wasn't there a higher-up in the Bush (?) admin who sounded the alarm about these right-wing terrorist organizations but was, for lack of a better term, ignored? Or was it the Obama admin? I vaguely remember threads about it but don't remember the guy's name.

(1,725 posts)...but honestly, I've had some personal struggles in the last 15 years that kept me away from DU and out of detail mode with what was happening in politics beyond presidential, though I didn't miss an election or mid-term. So these atrocious racist groups amped up without my being more attentive.

(8,090 posts)hope you're doing better. I did a quick search and it was the Obama admin sounding the alarm with Rethuglcians raising a stink:

I don't remember the DHS guy's name but I'll research more later.

(1,725 posts)Jeh Johnson. I only know because he gets interviewed on MSNBC all the time.
And thank you, yes, things are much better. It's why I've been so focused this year, but damn, what a year to focus...

(8,090 posts)I axed cable years ago and miss much of what goes on at MSNBC, but for what I see posted at DU. I pretty much stick to BBC and PBS and may have seen Mr. Johnson somewhere along the line...

(3,635 posts)and out of shape 'weekend warrior' types who would get destroyed by antifascist activists (who tend to be fit and younger) if antifa really was as big a movement (it's not) as the RW feverishly imagines.

(8,090 posts)I know some of these right-wing chuds have served in the military, but I'd wager the vast majority of them have not. Australian Rupert Murdoch has caused untold damage to this country. More is brewing thanks to Canadian Gavin McInness and, evidently, some Afro-Cuban named Enrique "Rap Sheet" Tarrio.

(2,574 posts)There is no reason to engage them. If there's no one there to fight with, the fascists lose.
Except, of course, the possibility of paid agents provocateurs engaging.
The cops need to arrest, and jail, everyone who engages in violence, to help determine the motivations of the instigators and perpetrators of the violence.
