I'm tired of this crap.

@owillis

The “liberal media” keeps making it clear they only want to listen to one group of Americans even after two elections show their point of view is in the minority

Today, @latimesopinion devoted our entire letters page to Trump voters.

https://latimes.com/opinion/story/2020-11-14/handing-our-entire-letters-page-over-trump-voters

2016, 3 million more Americans choose the democrat

Media: We need to hear from Trump voters

2020, 5 million more Americans choose the democrat

Media: We need to hear from Trump voters

I’m tired of this crap.

...despite a lot of us already knowing what and how Trump voters think because they never shut up about it.

And what will the LATimes get? A bunch of letters rehashing the blinkered view of the world they get from RW media, where everything they don't like is "socialism," and accusations that we're "elitist" in the same sentence with condescending stereotyping of us and caricatures of our views.

A lot of us have tried, only to see any inroads we made wiped out the next time they listen to Rush or Sean or whoever they like.

Unless they devoted time to exploring why voters flipped the house & a couple of governorships when an R was in the WH, then this effort is pandering to the minority.
If they didn't, the overall election defense falls flat.

The way in which voices are heard in a democracy is a polling process called voting.

You don't go and poll the losing side again in order to amplify that voice.

Clearly they aren't liberal, and they're afraid of being rendered irrelevant once Chump is gone.

This goes double for Facebook and Twitter, which have no right to be considered media anyway.

It's patronizing and disrespectful, but it's a media trope they reinforce - that somehow, the cranky, plain spoken, rural "salt of the earth" types are realists and True Americans (tm), unlike those Smarty-pants urban types with their diversity and crazy pie in the sky idealism.
Plus, Democrats tend to talk in long, involved sentences, which does not work when you only have a three minute segment to report. Rural Republicans will give you one or two sentences with no more than ten words and no need to explain concepts and provide background or reasoning for their opinions.

Media only wants to provide soundbites, not any real information. The average Trump voter will provide both the quicky soundbite and immediate emotional impact.

He only interviewed Republicans: H. R. McMaster, Peggy Noonan (ugh), and John Bolton (double ugh), and Newt Gingrich was cited. None of these people have any power to do anything about Trump. Why is the media not asking current Republican leaders who are insisting that Trump won to come on Sunday morning shows and explain just how that can be true, Mike Pompeo for example. I’m sure he would refuse, but that refusal should be part of the story. Why is the media not asking the important questions: What game are Republicans playing, and why are they playing it? It isn’t about Donald Trump’s feelings. It’s about their power and their ability to undermine democratic principles and norms. They should just be asked if their aim is anarchy because that seems to be their goal.

Their game, whatever their reasons, is dangerous for this country. We already have a divided country with millions of heavily armed white supremacists itching to start a civil war. Why does the media not ask Republicans why the are promoting a lie that encourages white supremacists to act to overcome a legitimate election.

I too am tired of this crap, but I’ve been tired of the media for a long time now.

Edited to add this: After thinking about this for a bit, I went to Fareed’s Facebook site and wrote a comment similar to my comments above. The comments are public, and I hope will make him and others question what Republican leaders are doing and why. We need to start complaining more when the media fails.

The Des Moines Register wrote an editorial about overcoming the urban-rural divide and the first online response was from a repug saying the Register needed to quit promoting liberal ideas and writers, ignoring the conservative guest editorials and commentary the Register publishes regularly.

If the LA Times wants to hear from trump supporters then they should tune into right wing talk radio and social media. It’s easier than turning over the letters page to them.

Enough already, the future are the Dems. The growing suburb metro areas in AZ, GA, NC, TX are Dems. The young are Dems. The majority of Hispanics growing the population are Dems.

Stop trying to placate people stuck the past. With every 4 years their economic power and numbers grow less and less. Trump was the last gasp, he had everything break his way and its now over.

China just signed a huge trade deal, the Asian and Indian kids are training in tech and engineering. Enough trying to go backwards. The progressives are the future of America. The future is technology, educating our workforce in green energy. Time to move on and any of these folks who want to be included, great. If not, oh well.
