I've woken up with a palmetto bug crawling on my arm before...the first time it happened, I freaked a little and the next time it happened I brushed it off and went back to sleep...
I was living in a small bungalow in a very wooded area of North Tampa and it was just a fact of my life then...I had hardly no money and it was only 150 bucks a month rent with utilities, so yeah...I got used to it.
I road a motorcycle at the time and it was common at certain times of year to be hit by bugs large enough to leave a welt while riding.
