IMHO, this chaos in America won't end until a year or two after Trump passes away

He and his fascist followers will keep trying to bring down America by his actions and rhetoric. His followers will hang on his every word as long as he's alive. When he does finally die, there might be someone who tries to take his spot, but I doubt he will have the same charisma and audacity that Trump has. Trumpism will eventually fizzle out, but not while he's still alive.

this shit won't stop. But even beyond that. The death cult known as the "republican party" needed to get crushed and reduced to a regional party. But like the fucking undead that they are they keep coming back.

But if our justice system... and Congress... do their jobs, that could change.
If he can be shown to be a common crook...wait... UNcommon crook, maybe that might change some minds.
Some of his deluded followers will simply say it was "fake news", but the seeds of doubt planted by prosecutions and convictions might sway enough gullible Americans to turn a large cult into a small one.
With that wedge, maybe we could wedge an opening big enough to return the country to sanity.

built by foxnews and hate radio, the base has been brainwashed for 40 years now, and the msm is highly warped by their agenda.

there is a very long list of loonies ready to step into the vacuum donnie will eventually leave behind.

their base doesn't need much to follow their leader, whoever that may be. just be consistently on their side and don't raise taxes.

what's really scary is that their next guy will be more competent at becoming a real dictator.

Until we find a way to undo the 40 years of right-wing hate radio brainwashing that has infected rural America, the cult isn't going away.

America’s Next Authoritarian Will Be Much More Competent
Trump was ineffective and easily beaten. A future strongman won’t be.

Make no mistake: The attempt to harness Trumpism—without Trump, but with calculated, refined, and smarter political talent—is coming. And it won’t be easy to make the next Trumpist a one-term president.

At the moment, the Democratic Party risks celebrating Trump’s loss and moving on—an acute danger, especially because many of its constituencies, the ones that drove Trump’s loss, are understandably tired. A political nap for a few years probably looks appealing to many who opposed Trump, but the real message of this election is not that Trump lost and Democrats triumphed. It’s that a weak and untalented politician lost, while the rest of his party has completely entrenched its power over every other branch of government: the perfect setup for a talented right-wing populist to sweep into office in 2024. And make no mistake: They’re all thinking about it.

NEVER will care, not much can be done as we can;t set up concentration camps for "re-education" purposes. This schism was started 50 years ago and has been nurtured and cultivated to where we are today. Undoing it? Again impossible. Koolaid drinkers just don't wake up one day and say. hey the koolaid sucks. Its human nature and we are past the turning point of any type of cohesive america. How do we deal with it going forward? We saw 2 years of ineffectual house investigations that lacked real toughness and allowed this admin to run rampant over rule of law. All the GOP has to do is bide their time to 2022 and win the house, Biden will be impeached (not removed) and the divisiveness grows greater. The reality is our hope has to based on a catastrophic COVID impact over next 6 months that some how wakes up what few GOPer supporter with any honor to the reality. I won;t hold my breath. Human nature is more predictable than not.

I was thinking that maybe a catastrophic COVID impact was the only hope we have. That or some other really horrendous natural disasters that affect pretty much everyone. As bad as things have been, it would seem not quite bad enough to get through to a large chunk of the population. Something like Armageddon I suppose, though I think we are in the beginning of that already. People just can't see it as long as they have food, shelter, electricity, and Internet.

After the past few years, I getting used to anticipating the unexpected and often unbelievable. It could be viewed as a historical adventure, if it wasn't so damn terrifying.

sooner, than later. A Midwest drought that takes out 75% of corn, wheat and soybean production is a real possibility sooner than later. Then the ramp up in hurricanes hitting red gulf states. Many deniers will stay denying, but others will not as cost of insurance soars and the rednecks ask for relief....socialism. Farmers already getting socialism relief. The fracture of American democracy is not going to be fixed. Until democrats can go all in with prosecution while they have ANY power to do so.
