(4,723 posts)How much of this utter nonsense is theater used to cover their doing something dark behind the scenes. Some of these lawsuits and their public statements are comically ridiculous. I know there are a lot of inept people involved, but this show they are putting on is beyond absurd.

(11,514 posts)And as has been reported in many places only the portion of donations over $5000 actually goes into the legal fund. Below that threshold 60% goes to a tRump PAC (aka slush fund), and 40% goes to the RNC. The longer tRump can keep his idiotic supporters stirred up the more money he can make from them (and GOPers are going along because they profit as well).
And more than likely a part of this is a desire on tRump's part to leave a huge mess for Joe and Kamala to have to deal with when they take office.

(33,999 posts)Unlike many other countries, each side must generally pay for their own counsel. It is a huge barrier to filing a claim - since attorneys cost money. On the flip side, if you get sued, you are stuck deciding whether it is cheaper to settle or pay your attorneys to fight a ludicrous claim. It means a lot of people/entities that have done nothing wrong pay, rather than fight the claim. (Not likely in an event like elections - but other claims against the state may be influenced by the mandate to live within a balance budget.)
Here - Trump may be required to pay the attorney fees for the state.

(33,999 posts)And attorney's fees are dischargeable in bankruptcy.
But I reallly like the idea of Trump paying to prove he lost.
