The SoS of Georgia is required, by law, to do an audit of ONE election each cycle. This year, the SoS, Raffensperger, chose to do an audit of Trump v. Biden, specifically, but that has nothing to do with Georgia’s recount procedures. Whether or not Trump would be entitled to a recount under Georgia law, I do not know, but that would be completely separate from the audit that Raffensperger just conducted.

That step is required before a side can request a recount. The first recount also validated the election counting, so Trump faces a massive hill in over-turning the vote.

A recount would be a tabulation of all ballots with scanners. This would include all votes on each ballot.

He wants to get to the point where there are still outstanding states that haven't certified by the time the electors meeting comes up in December, thus throwing that process into doubt and forcing it into the supreme court.

Georgia should take the same tack as Wisconsin, and charge heavily for any recount. The RNC has got to be bleeding money that would otherwise be going into the Georgia Senate races for the GOP paying for all of these recounts and legal fees.

What they just did was a hand tally which is basically rechecking the math.

A recount will be running all 5,000,000 ballots through the scanners. They do a test of say 50 Biden 45 Trump and 5 Jorgeson ballots and see that he scanner gets the right count. Once that is verified they start running all of the ballots through. Once smaller counties are done they will move the machines (about 200 statewide) to larger counties. Trump has two business days to request a recount ONCE THE VOTES ARE CERTIFIED. They are certifying tomorrow. Trump will have until Tuesday to make the request. With Thanksgiving next week, Georgia could start the recount on Monday or next Monday depending on when Trump makes the request. They aren’t sure how long it will take. They can process 50 ballots per minute per scanner.

Or is certification delayed because of his demand for a recount?

Because GA called the first one an "audit" technically there was no recount.
Trump can request a recount because margin of victory is smaller than 0.5%.
It won't however be a hand recount.
