I started in 2000 after the Florida vote fiasco.

I saw it as corporate fascism for a good while;
and while corporatism is a driving force, it has
evolved into a particularly virulent form of
rightwing ignorance and conspiracy theory.

I never saw the original Nazis as that ignorant,
and it took a worldwide fight to root it out for
a little while. But when it came back, it took on
a different look.. just like you and me while being
normalized in a particularly effective manner by
a corporate owned complicit media..

Was it ever a question? Congressional Republicans have been that for years, even before Trump. But credit Trump for bringing the Fascism out in them.

This isn't a schoolyard insult contest.

The Republican Party is now a fascist political organization, not because they hurt our fee-fees, but because they advocate and implement fascist policies.

the courts are still functioning and shutting down their lawsuits. The press is still saying whatever they want about the Dotard and comedians are still making fun of him. No one has been executed for it. No tanks are in the streets. The legislatures are still functioning and each state still has its reserved powers.

That is where our conversation started. I disagree. The Republican Party is now an overtly fascist party that, right now, is supporting an attempted coup.

You think it is just name calling and hyperbole. Stunning.

It's very hard to come out of Nazism or fascism peacefully.

In fact, all this waiting is just excruciating.

I was even (inexplicably) excoriated by someone when I pointed out policies that were fascist in nature, but there can be no denying that is clearly the direction they have been trending in. I guess reaching the point that they are trying to cancel the election results to reinstall a dictator is a pretty solid indicator of what they are about, and it's sure not democracy.

In the fictional film The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, the character of Eben Ramsey quotes Jane Austen, adding a little tweak that I think really strikes home for all of us: "Manners is what holds a society together [that and a reliable postal service]. At bottom, propriety is concern for other people. When that goes out the window, the gates of hell are shortly opened and ignorance is King.” "

Wow. The club was formed to appease the Nazi occupiers of Guernsey who would otherwise have discovered that one of them had withheld a pig to roast for a gathering of friends and family. It's just amazing.

They seem to dance around it. I wonder if management has told them not to use to word. Might be too harsh, wouldn't want to further divide the country or hurt repug feelings.
