National Toilet Day ...It's true, the United Nations has actually designated November 19th as World Toilet Day! If this had been a question on a True or False test, I am sure most of us would have responded "false." Trivia Lesson for the Week (info copied from nationaltoday.com): In 2013, a joint effort between the Government of Singapore and the World Toilet Organization led to Singapore’s first UN resolution called “Sanitation for All.” This resolution called for the collective action to end the world sanitation crises. As a result, World Toilet Day was declared an official UN day and the resolution was adopted by 122 countries at the 67th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. During World Toilet Day 2015, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon advocated action to renew efforts to provide access to satisfactory sanitation for all, reminding everyone of the “Call to Action on Sanitation” which was launched in 2013 and aimed to end open defecation by 2025. https://www.un.org/en/observances/toilet-day

1. I wish it had coincided with our election day.
We could have nicknamed it "Flush Trump Day."

11. Everyone deserves a clean, safe toilet and sanitation system.
Except Trump. He doesn't seem to understand how they work anyway.

15. Modern toilets and sanitation systems for all would make this world a much better place.
I'm fortunate to live in a place where clean potable water comes out of taps within my home, and sewage is treated to such a degree it can be used directly for agriculture and groundwater replenishment.
That ought to be a basic standard of living for everyone. |

16. On a serious note
More people in the world have access to cell phones than have access to a toilet. The health consequences are quite serious.
