Elizabeth Warren: Let's be clear...

Elizabeth Warren@ewarren
Let's be clear: The Republicans who are staying silent, dodging questions, or releasing wishy-washy, say-nothing statements as this administration refuses to concede and spreads daily disinformation are complicit in a dangerous attack on the core foundation of our democracy.

I think Schiff today. We need to hear this language. I really like filing suits against Trump and am hearing states going after others too.

4. Dangerous stochastic terrorist

As Olbermann points out, DT is a stochastic terrorist.

I wish that more of our leaders pointed out that he is not only declaring war on our constitutional democracy's norms and processes, he is a stochastic terrorist. The definition of this term, and its applicability to DT, need to be firmly planted in the public mind.

stochastic terrorism [stuh-kas-tik ter-uh-riz-uh m] -noun- the public demonization of a person or group resulting in the incitement of a violent act, which is statistically probable but whose specifics cannot be predicted.

As long as DT fanatics cling to the notion that he CAN overturn the election, they are likely to stay on the sidelines. But when all avenues are closed -- e.g., on Jan 6th, when their last ditch efforts to object to and toss out Biden electors fail -- I fear the rage he and the right-wingnut noise machine have fomented will erupt. With something like 50,000 people firmly believing they are witnessing a Biden "coup," you can be there is an extremely HIGH statistical probability that at a few in that number are motivated and capable of terrorist acts.

Sat Nov 21, 2020, 08:12 PM
Nov 2020
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted.

The Constitution doesn't bother to define "enemies" but it should be self-evident that anyone "attack[ing] ... the core foundation of our democracy" is an enemy of the United States.

People are so used to behavior that is so outrageous that normal responses just don't fit. Eventually, it becomes the norm. Imagine how far a nefarious campaign like this would have done in ANY previous election! This is banana republic stuff.

19. And that core foundation is: Integrity.

Without a commitment to integrity there is no trust, no social compact, no economic system, no law.

When even the cops have been given sanction to lie by the courts, and the politicians are so scared of losing their cushy jobs with built-in healthcare and pensions (at tax-payer expense) that either will say anything to try to preserve their power, we have last the battle on democracy.

Biden needs the Presidential Crimes Commission as suggested by other posters to study exactly what went wrong and craft checks and balances to make sure it never happens again. I posit the first element of what went wrong was abandonment of the truth and integrity.
