Kelly Loeffler's latest attack on Warnock will blow up in her face in spectacular fashion: MSNBC

November 22, 2020

By Tom Boggioni - Commentary

During a panel discussion of the attack Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) recently launched against Rev. Ralph Warnock (D), an MSNBC contributor suggested the embattled Republican lawmaker may have stepped in it by focusing on one of the pastor’s sermons in Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church — once home to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Speaking with “AM Joy” host Jason Johnson, The 19th editor Errin Haines claimed the GOP lawmaker — who is already dogged by accusations of insider trading during the coronavirus pandemic — motivated Black voters to turn out in force for the run-off election.

“Well, listen, you know, for anybody that would go to this playbook, they are about to learn the 11th Commandment which is ‘Thou shalt not come for the Black church,'” she said to laughter from her fellow panelists. “It will galvanize Black voters. As the spiritual home of Martin Luther King Jr., Ebenezer is a place that has been bipartisan at times, it is a place that attracts a diverse congregation every week to whom Rev. Warnock has been preaching.”

“I covered him when he came to Ebenezer to lead that church. and again, his gospel is in keeping with the spirit of the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., so this is not, you know, anything that is radical,” she added. “So I don’t think that it [Warnock’s sermon] is something that will polarize voters, it certainly hasn’t in the past and really trying to weaponize it at this point, I don’t think that it is something that will work to their advantage.”

night when he was on with, I think it was Joy, and he went into a rant that was the most awesome presentation I've seen maybe ever! It's like he's just started eating his Wheaties or something. But this was really a good show you linked to.

anything that will bring out the moronic masses who turned out for Donnie almost three weeks ago. I doubt it will work. Without Trump on the ballot, most of the low info idiots will stay home. And, there's rumors of them boycotting the runoff since GA was ...gasp!....stolen from their orange gaaawd! Some of them have even advocated a write in campaign for Trump instead of voting for Loeffler or Perdue.

I think the Dems have a real opportunity here. We're still organized and energized. The other side is a mess. It's not that much of a stretch for Warnock and Ossoff to both win in Jan.

My immediate reaction (and verbal Kelly Loeffler impersonation) is "look-at-my-hair-look-at-my-hair."

I suspect that's really just about the only thing she actually cares deeply about. "Look-at-my-hair-look-at-my-hair." She wears it long and forward over one shoulder so it's as noticeable as possible.

I am not religious and this really bothers me. Marco Rubio of all people has jumped in on this. He did not want democrats to question Amy Coney Barret about her religious beliefs about abortions. Yet Rafael Warnock's beliefs are fair game for attacks? I want Rubio and Loeffler to answer this question. I want reporters to ask them about it. The man took his sermon from the Bible about mammon. Not having 2 masters. Putting God above everything else. He went on to talk about all the things that you can't serve or put ahead of God. This is literal reading of the scripture.
Again I am not a religious person. But what makes his literal reading of this particular scripture any different from what white evangelicals want to literally read to interpret to have their stance on abortion or LGBTQ? Them demanding that he should apologize? Apologize for what? The scripture says to put God before everything else. So yes God should come before the military. You cannot put the military before God. So you are saying he should apologize for a literal reading of the Bible?

Its laughable that Christianity really means being against abortion and LGBTQ and a sermon like this is seen as "controversial"
